FLEA Policy
Please do not bring your dog to the salon if it has fleas. If you bring your dog into the salon and it has fleas we will add on a £15 flea charge.
It is not fair on us to have to deal with the issue.
Grooming your dog will NOT rid it of fleas.
You will be charged if you bring fleas into the salon going forwards and we will be taking video evidence
After a flea infestation we have to disinfect and spray the entire salon with industrial strength stuff that is not cheap as well as using specific shampoo for your dogs, and any other dog that may be in the salon at the same time, and we risk taking home even one, that will then infect our personal dogs and homes as well as other clients animals.
Please be kind and thoughtful and do not bring your dog to us.
If you need advice on how to treat fleas we can help.
Matted Dog Disclaimer:
Some types of coat types can become more matted then others, when researching your breed it's important you get a grooming estimate from other owners of the breed. There are multiple resources available via social media, search engines or even local groomers and other dog owners.
We recommend you bring your dog to us every 6-8 weeks for a groom, or more if the coat is particularly long and you want to keep it that way. Regular brushing at home is also essential in order to prevent matting. Matted coats can cause a variety of skin and health problems. When a dogs coat becomes matted it does not allow circulation to the skin, matted coats also pulls and binds causing your pet pain when they move or lie on them. The skin underneath is usually raw and inflamed; these coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin. If we assess your dog’s coat to be found matted, then it will need to be clipped short.
Under the Animal Welfare Act (2006), it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal; this includes de-matting which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. If you bring in your dog with more than 10 minutes of de-matting work, we are required by this act to clip your dog short. This equals to 5% of your dog, equaling to matts at about 50p size. The Pretty Puppy Parlour understands how difficult it can be to find the time to groom your dog every day. We can discuss a style for you and your dog that is easily maintained at home and give you grooming tips so your dog does not become matted. We also offer a bath and brush service at a reduced cost in between full grooms, if this is needed.
In the case of a matted dog being brought for a groom photographic and video evidence of the dogs coat will be saved and potentially used in the event a dispute arises and any and all attempt to discredit the groomer on social media or via word of mouth will be met with legal action.
